Opening Doors Campaign
Our "Opening Doors Campaign" is about forging a lasting connection between children and the natural world. By opening doors to youth, we hope to inspire future generations to be responsible stewards of tomorrow’s green spaces.
You can help open a door for a child by contributing to one or more of these programs:
Sponsorship Fund
Goal: $20,000 annually
Sponsor for Summer Camp
Through no fault of their own, some children are unable to experience the simple joys that most kids take for granted. A walk in the woods or a swim in the lake happens infrequently, or not at all. You can give a child an opportunity to experience an unforgettable week of camp by becoming a Summer Camp Sponsor. Please read some of the thank you letters from past recipients
Partner in Outdoor Education
A small donation of $10 per student for as many students are you are able, will help us to sponsor classes from disadvantaged schools. A bird landing on an outstretched hand or the sight of a shooting star streaking across the night sky are experiences that can never be replicated by a computer screen, textbook or indoor school program. Help us to make these experiences accessible to a broader compliment of students.
Capital Fund
Goal: $150,000
With straw bale builidngs, alternative energy, passive solar straw bale addition, and plans for wind and solar generation, Camp Kawartha is striving to live what it teaches. We are developing a long term energy plan which involves upgrading our existing buildings to make them energy efficient and replacing our older cabins with innovative green architecture. Help us move the camp towards sustainable living practices so that we can motivate others to do the same.
Endowment Fund
Goal: $300,000
Endowments offer the opportunity to ensure that your gift continues to give year after year. The capital of an endowment fund is invested in perpetuity and income from the fund is used to support your designated area of interest within Camp Kawartha.
Ensure that you leave behind an open door for those who follow. We want to make sure our programming remains vital and relevant to children for years to come.
It is Camp Kawartha’s Goal to continue opening doors for many years to come. We cannot do this alone. With recent funding reductions in education and recreation, there are fewer opportunities for children to be outside, fewer programs for children to participate in. Meanwhile, with growing urban sprawl and shrinking natural spaces, there is a greater need than ever to take children outdoors. Be part of our efforts to lead children outside!
