Our "Opening Doors Campaign" is about forging a lasting connection between children and the natural world. And we hope our efforts to make the natural world part of our children's community will inspire future generations to be responsible stewards of tomorrow's green spaces.

You can help open a door for a child by contributing to one or more of these programs:

1. Sponsorship - Goal: $20,000 annually

Sponsor for Summer Camp: Through no fault of their own, some children are unable to experience the simple joys that most kids take for granted. A walk in the woods or a swim in the lake happens infrequently, or not at all. You can give a child an opportunity to experience an unforgettable week of camp by becoming a Summer Camp Sponsor.

Partner in Outdoor Education: A small donation of $10 per student for as many students as you are able will help us to sponsor classes from disadvantaged schools. A bird landing on an outstretched hand or watching a shooting star streak across the night sky are experiences that can never be replicated by a computer screen, textbook or indoor school program. Help us to make these experiences accessible to a broader compliment of students.

2. Capital Fund - Goal: $150,000 over 3 years

With a passive solar straw bale addition and plans for wind and solar generation, Camp Kawartha is striving to live what it teaches. We are developing a long term energy plan which involves upgrading our existing buildings to make them energy efficient and replacing our older cabins with innovative green architecture. Help us move the camp towards sustainable living practices so that we can motivate others to do the same.

3. Endowment Fund - Goal: $300,000

Ensure that you leave behind an open door for those who follow behind you! For the first time Camp Kawartha is initiating an endowment fund, which will help to secure our future. We want to make sure our programming remains vital and relevant to children for years to come.

An Open Door can open so many possibilities

We want to recognize your assistance! Our open door campaign will feature a wall dedicated to those who have helped us to achieve our goal: making the outdoor world more accessible to children of all ages.

A donation of $250 will inscribe your name on this wall
A donation of $1000 or more will provide you with a small door on our wall along with your name and pictures of those you have helped to support
A donation of $5000 or more will provide you with a large door on our wall along with your name and pictures inside the door of those you have helped to support
A donation of $50,000 or more will provide you with a large door on our wall along with your name and pictures inside the door of those you have helped to support. Also, we will plant a 12' oak tree with a sign acknowledging your generous contribution. this tree will be a growing reminder of the opportunities you have helped to create, now and for years to come.
