Environmental Programming

The Camp Kawartha Environment Centre delivers curriculum linked environmental programming to regional schools and show cases sustainable living practices to the broader community. The centre also provides workshops to local teachers and student teacher candidates in environmental education at Trent University.

Educating for a sustainable future is a proactive way to instill hope among Canadians. Hope to move beyond a fossil fuel economy, hope to live more gently and sustainably in our communities and hope for our children to experience a cleaner, greener future.

Camp Kawartha Environment Centre Program Guide

Welcome to one of Canada’s most sustainable buildings!  We strive to make each of our programs interactive, experiential, educational and fun!  Part of the day is spent educating students about the unique sustainable features of the Camp Kawartha Environment Centre.  We also provide each visiting student with concrete ideas of how we all can reduce our carbon footprint..

Please select two programs options from those listed (Elementary Programs, Secondary Programs. While we have targeted grades for each program, please feel free to select any you feel are relevant to your student’s interest and area of study.

Typical Schedule

Arrival: 

9:30 a.m.

Introduction and Tour of the Centre

9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Program One.

10 a.m. to 11:30  p.m.

Special Activity and Lunch: 

11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Program Two.

12:30 to 2:00 p.m.

Summary (how we all can make a difference): 

2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
