Group Workshops

Weekend workshops are available for groups or for anyone interested in learning more about sustainable building practices.

The topics for the workshops are:

Sustainable Building

Learn about the Environment Centre’s green architectural components and how they might be added to your own home or business. Most of the aspects at the Environment Centre can be easily accomplished, and some of the systems can be resourced within Canada, like our composting toilets from Eco Ethic in Sunderland.

Renewable Energy

Help reduce you ecological footprint as well as decreasing the amount on your energy bill. Learn about solar paneling, geothermal energy and wind power.  These are aspects that can be done during the construction period or added to your home or business now.

Teaching Environmental Education

The Environment Centre’s main focus is education. We hope the students who visit the centre and learn about nature and renewable energy will be inspired to become tomorrow’s environmentalists. We believe by using hands-on programs, children will be eased into environmental learning by inspiration, not by fear over the current environmental problems. Our educators will host workshops for future teachers, or anyone working with children, on how to deliver these programs themselves.

Passive Solar Construction

Are you building your own home or putting on a new addition? If you decide not to invest in any larger renewable energy systems, you can simply design your space to take advantage of the sun’s heated rays or the roofs shade.
