Communicating with Campers

We encourage family and friends to communicate with their campers. However, it is important to note that frequent communication can result in homesickness and defeat the purpose of the adventure.

Letter Mail

Send letters to:

Camper Name, Session Code, Cabin Name
c/o Camp Kawartha
1010 Birchview Road, RR4
Lakefield, Ontario KOL 2H0

Your camper will be encouraged to write to you. Please include stamped, pre-addressed envelopes in his or her packing.

TIP: You can buy "Tickelopes", animal shaped envelopes, at your local Canada Post outlet. They are fun way to send letters to your campers!

Mailed Parcels

Please limit the parcels you send to those that contain necessities and birthday wishes. You may send goods such as clothing, personal items, books, magazines, or small travel games.

Do not send food, snacks or candy of any kind, or anything not listed in the Packing List.

Email

Send emails to campermail @ campkawartha.ca

Ensure your emails are properly addressed for delivery to your campers.

* Subject line must include Camper Name, Session Code, and Cabin Name
* Limit your message to one page
* Plain text only; we will not print images or attachments

We print emails on regular business days, and cabin cousellors distribute them to their campers. In the interest of cost to the camp and saving paper, please limit their frequency. Your camper cannot reply electronically to your email.

Faxes

Do not send fax messages to your camper.

Phone Calls

Phone calls can cause even the most independent camper to feel homesick, and are disruptive to the daily routine. Campers are not allowed to call home or receive telephone calls while at camp.

If you are concerned, you may contact the camp for a status report. Please be certain that we will contact you if there is an emergency or concern regarding your camper.
