Integrated Camp Program
for Children with ASD
- ages 5-14, campers receive one-to-one supervision
- 1 week sessions
GOAL:
To successfully facilitate the integration of children living with HIGH FUNCTIONING Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) into the regular camp setting.
Summer 2011
Camp Kawartha is in the process of restructuring its ASD program. We want to be sure that we are working productively towards inclusion. This process will involve consulting other camps, hiring an ASD director, reviewing our screening process and developing additional staff training. We anticipate that this process will take us until the late fall of 2011. Please be advised that while we are restructuring, we will not be offering an ASD camp program this summer.
We recommend checking the OCA website (http://www.ontariocamps.ca) for accredited camps who offer specialized programs for children living with autism.
Camp Kawartha will do its utmost to realize its goal of providing a magical, integrated and caring camp for high functioning ASD campers by the summer of 2012.
