Wilderness Counsellor Skills DevelopmentRegister On-line
(W-CSD)

The W-CSD program is a separate, alternative program that will run concurrently with our regular Counsellor Skills Development program in August. The W-CSD program will focus more intensively on skills in an out-trip context. Participants who successfully complete the program will have an equal opportunity to apply for LIT or W-LIT the following summer.

This program is specifically for campers who have achieved their Bronze Cross and offers a more intense wilderness experience. The highlight being an extended canoe trip, and additional out-trips. The program is designed to build confidence and motivate the participants in gaining the hard skills and discipline needed to become effective leaders and future staff members. Skill building includes ORCA Canoeing levels, wilderness training, and training in our skill building activities including sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, eco-skills, archery, initiatives, ropes and more. Participants will also experience the group dynamics needed for achieving common goals and model staff roles within a camp environment. Time will also be made for recreational and coordinated programming with other leadership programs.

The W-CSD program is an important first step towards future leadership and application towards the LIT programs.
