Staff members must be at least 17 years of age AND completed a Leadership program, OR be 18 years old as of July 1st. Applicants must have current certification in first-aid and CPR and they must present a clear police check.
We do not have swimming requirements for all counsellors, but strong preference is given to counsellors with NLS. Our lifeguard team is made up of counsellors so we must hire at least 12 counsellors with NLS.
All tripping staff must have NLS.
The first day of Pre-camp Training is Saturday, June 21, 2008. The last day of work is Saturday, August 23, 2008.
We offer a special Nature Camp after regular camp and any staff member who chooses to work then will finish work on Thursday, August 28, 2008. (Labour Day falls on Monday, September 1, 2008)
Yes, over the course of the summer, it works out that each staff member gets one 24-hour day off per week
Each position has a base pay per week. Base pay increases for more senior positions, on age and experience, and whether the staff has NLS qualifications.
Developing your skills and seeking additional qualifications lets the camp director know you are excited about camp and dedicated to improving and widening your abilities. Camp Kawartha is happy to assist potential staff in finding the righ courses. Below is a list of companies that have qualified staff in the past. This is not a complete list, and we encourage you to find any local options that are more convenient, or consult the camp for further details.
